Who are we?
Definitely balloonists from all over Europe, who want to continue practising in a new, European, but still pilot friendly regulations environment. EBF was created in Paris on April 12th, 2014, by the national balloonists organisations of: Austria, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, United Kingdom. Since then, Czech republic, Denmark, Spain, Germany and Sweden have joined.
EBF represents leisure and commercial pilots, as main ballooning subjects concern both categories.
EBF is now EASA’s main contact for all ballooning matters.
Why EBF?
Because until April 2014, regulatory ballooning questions in Europe were addressed by really nice and helpful people, working for other air sports federations, but with no competence in ballooning.
This situation led to an inappropriate set of rules, which was threatening the future of ballooning. EBF experts have been working with EASA since early 2015, and achieved a complete re-setting of the rules applicable to balloonists and balloon operators.
EBF’s role:
- Work together with EASA and the National Aeronautical Authorities to review and complete new rules for ballooning.
- Represent members organisations in Europe
- Inform members organisations and help them take decisions.
